Do you want to learn how to play guitar? If you are just beginning to play guitar it can be very confusing to know where to start, and what to play next. Learning guitar should be a fun experience and you can learn to play some impressive sounding things even if you currently have zero music experience. If you can find the right guitar lessons that are also presented in a logical order, your guitar playing can improve very quickly and be a very rewarding experience.
Your First Guitar Lesson Is To Learn The Guitar Tuning:
Guitars are almost always tuned in what is called standard tuning. Starting with the thickest string to the thinnest string, this tuning is E A D G B e. Proper tuning is very important and you should check your guitar tuning often. The next thing you should learn is picking technique. When you hold a pick you should learn to pick each string using all down strokes, all up strokes and finally down up strokes (also known as alternate picking). Alternate picking is by far the most important style of picking as it gives you an even rhythm. You don’t need to use a pick, some guitarists prefer to pluck the strings with their fingers, but I recommend that most guitarists at least begin learning with a pick as it is an essential part of playing nearly all guitar styles.
Your Second Guitar Lesson Is To Learn Something That Sounds Cool:
If you have got your alternate picking down, your very close to being able to play some very fun and impressive sounding guitar riffs. One of the best lessons that I always show all my guitar students in their first lesson involves alternate picking open strings and combining this with fretted notes on the same string. A fretted note simply means that you are pushing down on a string somewhere along the fretboard, then picking the note. It might sound a little dry when explained in text, but trust me, when you hear how amazing this sounds you’ll be wanting to play it fast. When you learn how to play guitar there are many new things for you to get a grasp on. This includes chords, scales, notes as well as learning your favourite guitar riffs and songs.
