For doing this work, you need a string winder, wire cutters small pliers, some pliers, and a small tuner. Although you don’t need any tool, you can do it with your hands. If you have a frightening experience, you should read this. It is just a normal thing that anybody can do it.
You should change the strings when your guitar’s sound becomes dull or if you don’t get the proper sound. Another reason is that if any string is broken. Every two weeks you should check the strings. if it is not possible, at least once in one month must check the strings that they work properly or not.
Now I am going to talk about how to restring an acoustic guitar. Let’s start with some guitar accessories.
You will need this tool while restringing a guitar.
- Remove the old strings:
At first, you get out the old strings by using a string winder. If you have not you can do this manually with your hand. So, just loosen all the string. Then remove the strings from the tuner.
- Pull the bridge pin:
After that, you should remove the bridge pin and pull them out. Carefully you work as long as all the strings are removed. Sometimes the bridge pin can stick, if you don’t set right place.
- Clean the guitar:
Clean the guitar with a cloth slowly. I recommend you that you must use a dry and soft cloth. Every day you may clean the guitar but now it is not important to clean the whole body. You can only clean the stings site.
- Set the strings in the bottom side:
Now take your strings from a packet. There are two types of strings in the packet. One type is thick and the other is thin. You should set the thick wire in the middle. Some people tell the bottom side and some tell the upper side. It is correct that the name is the bottom side. You should start here.
Now Place the new strings in the bridge hole and pull up on the strings. Pull the strings insert behind the tuner and tight properly. Practice and set the strings until it set properly.
- Set the strings in the upper side:
Then pick up the bridge pins and measured the wire pin with the bridge pin and set the strings and pull on the bridge pin properly. You can use pliers or a small wire cutter to cut the extra wire. Repeat 4-5 times this until the strings set.
- Finish the work:
After completing restring, you can tune the guitar and your works are finished.
